John Du Prezwho wrote some of the music for Monty Python another show Michael Palin was in composed the score for the series.

In Octoberthe BBC’s CBeebies channel announced that a new series would be produced for broadcasting in their schedules,  with Michael Palin narrating in place of the late Oliver Postgate. But when my children sit down for their compulsory Clangers session next year, they will discover that, in spite of us having in their imagination no cars; in spite of us not having the technology to make animated objects move in anything other than jumpy, unrealistic form; in spite of all these difficulties, we had something more.
Tiny Clanger and Small Clanger find that the Ball they were playing with has friends of its own. Just as much as David Frost, the Clangers were groundbreaking; satire for the very young. Postgate claimed that in reality when the Clangers’ were whistling, they were “swearing their little heads off”.

Firmin designed the characters, and his wife knitted and “dressed” them. Never mind that the details might be lost on the tiny audience, but mum and dad will get it and smile, or grimace. According to the 7 June issue of Parade magazine, actor William Shatner has been chosen to be the American narrator for the series when it begins airing on the cable network Sprout.
I hope the modern Clangers can still bite. Much less polished, but much more enjoyable.
