Caine obliged, but was left disappointed. It’s not the cleanest of places as the pigeons have been in here for a while but it’s worth a good look in my opinion. Thanks everyone, it’s definitely worth a visit for a giggle and it’s bigger than you’d expect. The other three sides of this court have a Gothic loggia fronting a single-storey building; access to the Inner Court is through a gateway on the south side. It has been Grade II listed since , and today is home to a Kinesis gym.

Posted February 9, Here are my shots: A fragment of the facade remained until when adjacent shops were demolished. One of the bowling levels is covered in trash from illegal raves and squatters in years gone by but the other one is fairly clean in comparison, both have large bar areas and various adjoining rooms with all sorts of bowling paraphernalia to be found.
There were others close by and the interior was described as having acoustic problems and echoes. Courtenay Constantine’s London cinemas — again, his signature entrance tower features.

The former Isleworth Odeon, which opened inwas also one of George Coles’s designs, and ran as a cinema until Unfortunately the local kids have been getting in and really smashing the place streaham good and proper. This is by no means a complete list.
These London Buildings All Used To Be Cinemas
I visited at night with a couple of 28DL members juicerail and sentinel, we had a proper good giggle throughout and I promptly went back for some daytime shots on the roof the following day. This is what the cinema interior looked like.

The Tower Cinema closed in Decemberand the remaining structure, shown above, is not listed. Alexandra Palace Television Society. Now a Wetherspoon pubThe Capitol on Forest Hill isn’t shy in shouting about its s cinema heritage. Upstairs there is a maze-like laser quest level with fluorescent gun toting robots painted all over the walls and from here stretham can make your way up onto the roof. Elsewhere it’s referred to as Brixton Cinematograph Theatre.
The Explore A pretty streqtham one, apart from having to wade through a muddy bog in a field. I visited at night with juicerail and sentinel, we had a proper good giggle throughout and I promptly went back for some daytime shots on the roof the following day.

Keith on November 7, at 2: The fair retreat Adwy Deg. The Gaumont Palace had a large fully equipped stage house and numerous dressing rooms. The huge statue of a Roman chariot with four horses that was set above the entrance was even used in a Spice Girls video! When WEC International left in they stripped out pretty much everything and so a good chunk of the rooms are empty and not too interesting.

The Bridge Inn May Most the lights worked! In early-July it was seriously damaged by a German V1 rocket bomb and was closed. It now forms part of a block of flats. Here’s the Mayor of Wandsworth attending the ceremony to switch the lights cineema the front of the building back on following the end of the war blackout — which had begun just a year after the cinema originally opened:.
